Best Video Game Soundtrack debuts at GRAMMYs 2023

Grammy 2023 would witness the first-ever, “Best Video Game Soundtrack.” Category for the Game Development Industry.

We have known the renowned Grammy for decades, and it is pretty evident how big of an event it is. Top artists worldwide wait for this colossal prestige award which ranks higher than all others. Considered the Top-most tier of the music industry, this is what all music artists crave for. However, music artists from other fields, especially Game Development Industry, were left out of this great event as there was no relevant category for nominations. But not anymore; recently, The Recording Academy announced the addition of 5 new categories to the 65th Grammy Awards 2023 event. And this is for the first time Grammy will witness the debut of the “Best Video Game Soundtrack” category awarded the most outstanding musical soundtrack in the Video game Industry.

Quoting it straight, The Recording Academy shares its plans with this category,

Best Score Soundtrack For Video Games And Other Interactive Media - Recognizes excellence in score soundtrack albums comprised predominately of original scores and explicitly created for, or as a companion to, a current video game or other interactive media released within the qualification period.

Though this is the first time Grammy organizers are hosting a specific category for the best Music in Game Industry, Artists from Video Game Industry have already been nominated and won before for their excellent work. However, the categories for the nominations were quite different, and it was hard to compete with genre/category-specific nominations, but not anymore.

In addition to this great news, The Recording Studio has also made some changes to the event. To know more in detail about the update and the eligibility, check out the Grammys Official page.

Also, check out the complete list of Winners and Nominations for Grammy 2022.

We hope to see more such great news coming for the Video Game Industry.
