India Bans 118 Chinese Mobile Apps including PUBG

To safeguard the nation's security, India Bans over 118 Chinese Apps including PUBG.

It’s been a long time now, China constantly taking advantage of COVID-19 over the LAC while trying to push back the Indian Armed Forces from the valley. The escalated border tensions are in rise since a long time and several major steps including high-level meetings and diplomatic strategies have been made to neutralize the ongoing clash. Taking the nation's security into account Government of India banned 58 Chinese apps at an initial round 1 phase and warned the Chinese Developers to be ready for the second wave. As reported earlier, Chinese apps have always been on the radar of data piracy and privacy concerns.

Recently on 2nd September Wednesday, the Government of India banned more 118 apps including PlayerUnknown's BattleGrounds and Arena of Valor under section 69A of the Information and Technology Act. According to the Information and Technology Ministry,

“the Apps are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, the security of the state and public order. This decision is a targeted move to ensure safety, security and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace".

Not just Gaming but other apps like TikTok, UC Browser, Helo, Likee, Shareit, Mi Community, WeChat, Baidu, CamScanner, AliPay; Ludo World; Rise of Kingdoms; WeChat Work; Baidu Exp and others have been banned. However, the ban of a Gaming Giant with a 175m installation in India will be a matter of concern for the company but the Indian side is pretty strong enough to deal with such a situation which seems to disturbs the security of the nation.

Further, it is clearly evident from the action of the Indian Government that more strict measures could be taken in order to de-escalate the border tensions while uprooting the Chinese Business from the soil when required.
