Google Shuts down AdSense Apps on Android and iOS

Google has announced to shut down AdSense Mobile apps in favor of the AdSense mobile web interface.

Google Adsense, being the largest web advertising platform out there, is what powers ads on almost every website existing and many of the apps on the app stores. The AdSense mobile Apps in Android and iOS were a great way to check On-The-Go analytics of revenue generated & Ads performance with nearly one-third of its users using the Mobile Apps to check the data.


Google has announced it's sunsetting it's AdSense mobile apps in favor of AdSense mobile web interface usable through browsers. Google is also going to make improvements to the Mobile Web Interface so that there will be a better alternative after the discontinuation of the Mobile Apps. Users have already been informed about the discontinuation via official e-mails from the AdSense team and in-app notifications.


Google says that the decision was taken after the company conducting a review on its mobile strategy. In an announcement the AdSense team stated,


We will be focusing our investment on the AdSense mobile web interface and sunsetting the current iOS and Android apps. By investing in a common web application that supports all platforms, we will be able to deliver AdSense features optimized for mobile much faster than we can today.

Nearly 70% of AdSense audiences experience the web on mobile devices. With new mobile web technologies such as responsive mobile sites, Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) and Progressive Web Apps (PWA) the mobile web works better and faster than ever.

It's amazing for the users who primarily used the Web interface for AdSense as new and better features are set to roll out. The native apps will be deprecated in the upcoming months and will go through a full shutdown by the end of 2019.
